Speech title:

How to measure Software Quality? First step: forget about the classic metrics!

About his speech:

Today in Quality we have many challenges: we develop our daily activities with limited resources, with dozens of new technologies and under many expectations of continuous improvement from our managers. In this context, it is essential to know where to put the QA focus and make the most out of the little time we normally have available, in order to maximize the impact we have on the quality of the software. One of the tools in our ‘toolbox’ are the metrics that help us measure the quality of our products and the processes of delivering them. The problem is that we can waste our time with metrics that do not help us understand much about software quality, therefore measuring quality using proper metrics is critical. I always was very skeptical about measuring quality with classic metrics and I’ve found some that can make a difference. What you will learn: In this talk, Andrei going to show QAs out there that the topic of metrics is much more fun than it seems. He will share with the audience my experience with Accelerate, 4 very simple metrics that give us exactly what we need to start building a culture of measuring quality inside an organization, and future steps that will allow the participants to be on top of the metrics game. Who is it for: Anyone working in IT with interest in measuring quality.
