Bibiana, currently a test manager at ČSOB, views software through the lens of a biologist observing living organisms – complex entities that evolve through the identification and fixing of bugs. Originally starting her testing journey as a test automation engineer, Bibiana soon embraced a role that aligns more closely with her interests and strengths. She realized her true calling was process optimization and fostering collaboration among team members. This, in combination with her great passion for education and innovation, drives her never-ending search for new ideas, approaches, and tools.
In this thought-provoking presentation, I delve into the intriguing concept of artificial intelligence potentially replacing human testers. Through a short simulation, I´d like to take the audience back to basics, simulating a job interview scenario with two candidates: one representing AI and the other an experienced real-life test engineer.
The heart of the presentation lies in the simulated job interviews, presented in video format. Both candidates are posed with the same set of questions, both applying for the role of a medior test engineer. The interview topics span a wide range, from handling model situations to discussing manual and automation testing techniques, and even include some “out of the box” questions to truly put the candidates to the test. To bring this simulation to life, we employed AI technology to generate human-like avatars, each representing our interviewees.
During the presentation, the audience is tasked with the ultimate decision: which candidate would they choose to hire? As the interviews unfold, attendees are encouraged to weigh the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate, considering factors such as adaptability, problem-solving skills, and domain knowledge.
At the conclusion of the presentation, the veil is lifted, revealing which of the interviewees was actually the AI representation. This revelation prompts reflection and discussion on the capabilities of AI in the realm of software testing, as well as the enduring value of human expertise and intuition.
