Track Talk I November 14 I Track 3 I 1 PM – 1:40 PM
Our industry has managed to “slap AI onto a lunch box” and introduce it to the masses. This means AI is exploding on the work floor and is hitting our work like bomb shrapnel, with the seemingly uncontrolled use of AI making it difficult to identify where the possible damage will or has occurred. Everywhere LLM applications are used, creating product backlogs, creating a Project Initiation Document, requirements that are largely drawn up by AI and tools that claim to run on elements of AI. Yes, even testcases and scripts are being drawn up by test specialists. Why? FOMO Sapiens! Because no one wants/dares to miss the boat on this one. But the AI empire that has formed so far is not (yet?) completely reliable. How can we, as test specialists, arm ourselves against challenges of Artificial Intelligence? How do we ensure that we can confidently say there is no loss of quality? And who (or what) do we blame if things aren’t right? Are we ready to take the blame on this one? In this session, René outlines not only the horror scenario we are moving towards, through the fairy tale of AI, but also a soothing image of trust with his ACME method, which allows us to Anticipate, Control, Manage, and Expand the work completed. (FYI: this Talk Description has been completely written by a single human being)
René van Veldhuijzen, aka Testimist, firmly believes that the Test profession is the best within IT. As a Test Specialist he helps his customers with their need for a grip on the quality of the processes and products. Next to that he wants to learn from his peers, and pass any knowledge he has on Testing, Automation in Testing and other skills to the community. René has been active as a Test Specialist since 1998. With various non-Testing roles such as Academy Coach, Business Manager and Oracle Alliance Manager, his passion has always remained Software Testing, from politically sensitive projects in Test Management roles to creating Test scripts using Test Automation. René calls himself a Test Positivo, combining ubiquitous testing principles with Test Automation and Robotic Process Automation into integrated automation solutions for customers.
Talking about Testing and Test Automation has brought René on stage at venues like Accelerate (Tricentis in Vienna), SeeTest (Bucharest), Test Automation Days (Rotterdam), Testing United (Bratislava), EuroSTAR (Copenhagen and Edinburgh), TestCon (Vilnius), Targeting Quality (Canada) and as a keynote at TAPOST (Riga).
As the Testimist, René is the propagator of the Fun Driven Testing methodology, which is reflected in his work and presentations. As organizer of the conference TestMass, René found a positive way to spread knowledge about Testing. As board member of the Dutch TestNet Association, he makes a modest contribution to a healthy Testing climate.
